Japan

The majority of construction equipment distributed by IHIMER in Europe is now produced in IHI's historic Yokohama plant in Japan, which covers an area of 76,600 square metres and employs over 300 people. This production unit is dedicated exclusively to the development and production of mini- and midi-excavators, track loaders, crawler dumpers and cranes.
IHI started producing mini-excavators way back in 1976, and from the outset introduced a series of versatile models with levelling bucket and rotating boom. The real revolution came in 1995, when IHI became the first manufacturer in the world to develop and present its innovative zero-tail-swing excavators, which were later replicated by all the world's major manufacturers.
